What Is ‘Transgender’?
Transgender is an umbrella term for people who experience their gender differently from their sex assigned at birth (usually male or female). These individuals experience a consistent and persistent discomfort with gender identity, which may cause extreme distress. Gender identity is one’s psychological sense of being male, female, some of both or neither.
